Agate Mozambique
Exclusive Tumbled Stone Collection
This premium collection of tumbled agates from Mozambique features stones carefully selected for their high quality and exceptional patterns. You will find a variety of types and color shades that make these stones true collector's gems.

Characteristics
Mozambican agates may not have the prominent banding and color contrasts of Botswana agates, but they have still gained great popularity among both collectors and jewelers. This is primarily due to their unique color palette, which ranges from brown and red to purple. Here, you can also find the unusual horizontal banding first described in Brazilian agates. A great rarity are the inclusions of carbonate group minerals (most likely aragonite), which create radiating, fibrous structures within the agate.
This collection includes an exclusive selection of stones that represent the individual color types of Mozambican agates. You'll also find unique agates with horizontal banding and one example of a rare agate with inclusions.
Origin
Mozambique agates were formed 190–200 million years ago during volcanic activity. Gas bubble cavities formed in the cooling lava, which were subsequently filled with water rich in silica and other minerals. The gradual deposition of silicic minerals created the characteristic banding of the agates. The chemical composition, temperature, and pressure then influenced the resulting colors and patterns.
Occurrence
The main deposits of these agates are located in Mozambique, in the Tete province. Agates can be found in the original rock, weathered freely on the surface, or in riverbeds.
